Marriage License

Note on the previous license that, in response to the question "Are the parties for whom this license is desired in any way related?" the couple responded "No." This was not a factual statement, as John and Sarah were double half first cousins. Their fathers were half brothers and their mothers were half sisters. They were, in fact, very closely related, which is perhaps why they opted to marry in Illinois instead of Missouri, where this information was certainly more well-known.
