Perryville Weekly Union
The Perryville Weekly Union was a newspaper that served the people of Perry County, Missouri, from July 26, 1862 - January 12, 1883. The paper, under editor W.H. Booth, was printed in English and was circulated weekly. For a one year subscription in 1862 the price was one dollar.
During the duration of the Civil War, it was evident that the paper's loyalties lie firmly with the Union. The subheading on the first issue states "The Union, the Constitution, and the Enforcement of the Laws."
The mission of the paper is stated in the first edition: "As it will be a STRAIT-OUT, UNCONDITIONAL UNION PAPER. It will contain the latest war news, also the latest imported news from Europe, and other parts of the world. It will contain the local news of our county."
People's Forum
The People's Forum served Perryville, Missouri from 1874 - 1878. The paper was published weekly on Fridays. Thomas Layton was the business manager. The price for a year's subscription was $1.50 paid in advance.
The only issue currently available dates from September 15, 1876. It is listed as Volume 3, Number 27.
