Mary Viola "Ollie" (nee Gibbar) Bockhold

1892 - 1969

~ Grand Aunt ~

MARY VIOLA "Ollie" (nee GIBBAR) BOCKHOLD was born on October 20, 1892, the daughter of Pius Alfred Gibbar and Mary Ambrosia (nee Kline) Gibbar. Her family referred to her as "Ollie." There is some evidence that Mary Viola first married Joseph Chauvex in Perryville. He and two of their children may have died in from tuberculosis.   Following her spouse and children's deaths, Mary Viola and her surviving daughter, Mary (May) Chauvex went to stay with her sister, Louise (nee Gibbar) Litteken in Palmyra, Missouri where she met and married Albert Anton Bockhold in 1929. Mary Viola's daughter, May, fell from a tree while at school and contracted spinal meningitus, dying soon after. (information obtained through oral history of Ruth Hudson, daughter of Mary Viola and Albert Bockhold and sister of 1/2 sister of May Chauvex). Mary Viola "Ollie" died in 1969 at the age of 77. She was our grand aunt, the sister of our grandfather, James Henry Gibbar, and the aunt of our mother, Rose Anna (nee Gibbar) Bohnert.
