Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery

Belgique, Perry County, Missouri

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery, also known as Belgique Catholic Cemetery, lies just south of Belgique along Highway 51 in Perry County, Missouri. The cemetery has suffered from the ravages of the Mississippi River flood waters and is the only remaining vestige of the town of Belgique. The remaining headstones are still legible and in relatively good condition.​

John Logan Belsha

JOHN LOGAN BELSHA​ was born in either in October or December of 1844 (documented dates vary). John Logan was the second child and first son of John Belsha and Harriet (nee Finch) Kinnison Belsha. John Logan was married four times, the last time to our great grandmother, Mary Elizabeth (nee Hager) Belsha, the daughter of James Ruben Hager and Theresa Ann (nee Tucker) Hager. John Logan died on May 17, 1926. John Logan was our great grandfather. His daughter from his fourth marriage, Mary Eleanora (nee Belsha) Gibbar, was our grandmother. He was the grandfather of our mother, Rose Anna (nee Gibbar) Bohnert.
