Henry August Bohnert

1889 - 1955

~ Grand Uncle ~

HENRY AUGUST BOHNERT was born on April 6, 1889, the son of William Bohnert and Maria Elizabeth (Leible) Bohnert. Henry August married Mary Eathel Welker on September 25, 1917, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Perryville, Missouri. Mary Eathel had a twin sister named Mary Urthel Welker. Mary Eathel was the daughter of John C. Welker and Lucinda (nee Coffey) Welker. Witnesses to their marriage were Mary Urthel Welker and John Bohnert. Henry August died on November 9, 1955. He was our grand uncle, the brother of our grandfather, John Vincent Bohnert, and the uncle of our father, James J. Bohnert.

Joseph Benedict Gibbar

1852 - 1920

~ 1/2 Great (Grand) Uncle ~

JOSEPH BENEDICT GIBBAR was born on April 16, 1852 in Perry County, Missouri, the son of John Nicolas Gieber and his second wife, Mary Ann (nee Mattingly) Gibbar. Joseph married Mary Rosella Miles on April 11, 1871 in Perry County, Missouri. Together they had seven children. Joseph Benedict died on February 8, 1920 at the age of 67. He was our 2x great half uncle, the son of our 3x great grandfather, Jean Nicolas Gieber.

John Manning

1743- 1815

~ 5x Great Grandfather ~

JOHN MANNING was born in St. Mary's County, Maryland, in 1743, the son of Cornelius Manning and Jane (nee Brooke) Manning. ​ His wife was Anastasia (nee Ormsby) Manning. She was born in 1759 in St. Mary's County, Maryland. Her parents are currently unknown. She and John Manning married in 1780 in St. Mary's County, Maryland. Anastasia Ormsby Manning died in 1827 in Perry County, Missouri.  John Manning served in the Revolutionary War. 

According to the Perry County Lutheran Historical Society, John Manning purchased land that would later become Wittenberg, Missouri. They maintain that he is buried on a hillside next to the river in that area. The plaque in the picture was moved from Silver Lake to Wittenberg to be placed on his property. John Maning was our 5x Great Grandfather through our maternal Belsha/Hager/Tucker line. He died in Perry County, Missouri in 1815.
